Maybe you are asking yourself: How do I become a better Leader?
Hi, I am Zach Speegle founder of Bold as a Lion Ministries. Part of being a great leader is doing self analysis and learning from others. I've decided to list a few of the leadership books that I recommend to anyone who wants to go to the next level. Hope you are blessed and find the right leadership books for you and your team. These are books that I have actually read or am in the middle of learning and discovering. Also, check out our Faith Books page if you've ever asked the question; How do I grow in Faith?
The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership has been a great tool for my ministry in developing up and coming leaders. It has shown light on areas of weakness and also taught me that there isn't just one thing that makes a leader great. John C. Maxwell is a world renowned author and leader. To give you an idea, Zig Ziglar is the own who wrote the foreward in the book. John C. Maxwell is a business man and a pastor. He's often been invited to many conferences to help in the secular market. This book will give you many great tools. The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership is a collection of Leadership tools that John C. Maxwell has gained over the years, and he gives them all to you in this book.
This workbook for The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership is a great companion to go along with the book itself.
This is one of the most powerful books we have used in our team. This book really breaks down the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team. You can use this in every relationship you have be it in marriage or business, or church life. The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team has revolutionalized the way I think as a leader and really helps me remember how important it is to be vulnerable and have healthy conflict with my team. Without those you'll never have a committed team that is willing to be held accountable. The Fable is really good because it allows you to see examples of these dysfunctions and how they play out and how to fix them.
This book is a must have in your library! John C. Maxwell does it again with The 5 Levels of Leadership. This is a breakdown of what kind of leader you might be. With self analysis and humility, you will find that this book will reveal to you just how much influence you are having on the ones you are leading. These concepts by John C. Maxwell will take your leadership skills to the next level.
The Ideal Team Player by Patrick Lencioni is a great book to help you realize a culture that exudes "Team". This book will help you see what you need to do to cultivate your own team as a leader to get everyone to have a Team player culture. As they say, "You can go fast alone, but together you can go farther." The Fable helps bring alive scenarios that capture these concepts and the problems that leaders have when they don't have a team player culture. As a Christian, you may need to Forgive the language in the book, but the concepts are transferable to all areas of influence.
Extreme Ownership recounts the events of battle from two decorated Naval SEAL officers. They learned they could use their military training to help others in the business world be successful. There are no such thing as bad teams, only bad leaders. Always check your Ego. When the team succeeds, everyone within and those who support that team also win. As Jokko Willink says, "Take ownership of everything in your life." No more excuses. When everyone takes responsibility, the problems get solved.
