Bold as a Lion Ministries Statement of Faith
Core Beliefs that we believe are essential to living a victorious life in this Earth Suit.
While a statement of Faith cannot completely encapsulate all that we believe and stand on, or even begin to go into the depths of how we understand the truth we find in the scriptures, for the sake of those who really want to know a synopsis of what we believe and preach, here is an attempt at our statement of Faith. The problem with statements of Faith and Creeds is that if we are not careful, we become dogmatic and we cause divisions amongst believers because of them. These dogmas and doctrines can be problematic because people stand on their traditions rather than the scriptures. So, I'll say it now. If you really want to know our statement of Faith, just read the Bible from beginning to end. Our Statement of Faith will never replace the scripture and if it must be modified because it is contrary to scripture, then it must, in turn, be renovated.
- We believe in One God who manifests Himself in the Trinity God-head of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- Matthew 28:19
- Colossians 2:9
- 1 Corinthians 8:5-6
- Jesus is the son of God born of the Virgin Mary. In him, the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily. He came, died, was buried, rose on the third day, ascended into Heaven and will return again for his Church.
-
- Colossians 2:9
- Matthew 1:18-25
- We believe that it is necessary to be spiritually Born-again for salvation by confessing Jesus as Lord of your life. (Romans 10:9-10 and John 3:3). Without this born-again experience in the Holy Spirit, one cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven, and the wrath of God remains on him (John 3:36). We believe that Jesus is the only way to the Heavenly Father (John 14:6).
-
- By the blood of Jesus, we were justified and saved from God’s wrath and righteous judgment. (Romans 5:9)
- By his resurrection from the dead, we have victory over the Devil and his schemes and attain eternal life and resurrection from the dead.
- We also believe in the security of the believer and that those who endure to the end will be saved.
- It is by Faith we are saved through grace and not of works. Yet, because of our Faith and the Grace that is given to us, it will produce all kinds of good works for the kingdom. (Ephesians 2:8-10)
- We believe that Satan, the devil, has been declared defeated but that he is still currently at work in this world and is the prince of the air and we, the church, have the assignment to advance the kingdom of God to defeat his realm of darkness. This includes victory over sin and sickness and poverty on this side of heaven.
-
- Ephesians 2:2
- 1 John 5:19
- We believe in a separate experience with the Holy Spirit other than the born again salvation experience. It’s referred to as the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. We do not believe that this experience is necessary for salvation, but is simply another encounter we have with the Holy Spirit as shown throughout the book of Acts. Jesus teaches his Disciples that this encounter will empower them from on high (Luke 24:49).
-
- Acts 1:8 with Acts 2:1-13 (with John 20:19-22 as the born again experience before Jesus ascended)
- Acts 8:12-19
- Acts 10:44-48
- Acts 19:1-10
- We believe that all the supernatural Spiritual gifts are available to the believer and are all currently at work in the church body today. They belong to anyone who believes (Mark 16:17-18). The gifts of God come by Grace (Romans 12:6) and Grace comes in three ways:
-
- Faith (Ephesians 2:8),
- Humility (James 4:6)
- and Knowledge (2 Peter 1:2).
- We believe in the Authority of the Believer. (Luke 10:17-20)
-
- In Christ, we have been given back our authority and dominion over the Earth. (Romans 6:16-18)
- This comes with spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6)
- Prayer is essential to the Christian life and Victory in it. (Luke 18:1-8)
- We believe that it is always God’s will to heal and that Faith is how it works and Unbelief is how it is hindered (Matthew 17:19-20). Just as it is God’s higher will that none should perish (2 Peter 3:9), we believe that God’s higher will is that none should be sick (Psalm 103:3).
- We believe that not everything that happens is God’s will. We believe that God’s will is violated on a daily basis and it is our job as Christians to be enforcers of the will of God by bringing the Kingdom of God everywhere we go. We believe that God’s perfect will is demonstrated in Heaven and that we are to bring Heaven to Earth as instructed by Jesus when he taught his disciples to pray “Your Kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven” (Matthew 6:10).
- We believe in the Sovereignty of God, which literally means “the right to rule, reign, govern and pass judgment on those who rebel and violate the given laws and commands.” But we do not believe that God’s Sovereignty means he controls everything. The only time God seems to work in the background is for those who love him. And this would be a direct result of their faith and covenant with him (Romans 8:28). We must submit to God and allow him to have his way in and through us. 1 John 5:19 teaches us that the Devil is in control of this world and we must do spiritual warfare and evangelize the lost world to come to redemption and submit under the rule and reign of Jesus Christ, who by his death was exalted (Philippians 2:5-11) and was given authority over all of Heaven and in the Earth (Matthew 28:18). That is why Jesus gives us the Great Commission to preach the Gospel in all the earth and preach deliverance to the Captives (Isaiah 61)
-
- We do not believe it is the Sovereignty of God that saves us.
- We believe it is our Faith in God’s promises in the midst of impossibility that will save us. Faith in Jesus and His promise of the Holy Spirit is what brings salvation, deliverance, and healing.
- It is God’s mercy that forgives and God’s Grace that empowers. It is our Faith in the finished work of the Cross and Resurrection that activates both and makes us Righteous and gives us victory to walk out this life. Therefore, we do not associate ourselves or identify ourselves as sinners any longer (2 Corinthians 5:14-17). We have been made the very righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We believe that this revelation of truth and identification with God’s righteousness is key to living by faith and walking out a righteous, holy and pure life.
-
- 2 Corinthians 5:21
- Romans 1:17
- We are all a work in progress being made into the express image of Christ and going from Glory to Glory in the knowledge of Christ. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
- Jesus taught his disciples a preferred method of Evangelism and is was as such:
-
- Matthew 10:7 And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.
